GRNMA Lends a Helping Hand: Nurse in Sissala East Receives GHC 100,000 for Life-Saving Treatment

In a touching display of solidarity, the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has come to the aid of one of its own. On March 15, 2025, the association presented a GHC 100,000 cheque to Miss Ashida Nyasu, a dedicated nurse at Tumu Municipal Hospital, to support her urgent kidney transplant in India.

The short but emotional ceremony took place at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where Miss Ashida is currently undergoing dialysis. The cheque was handed over by Greater Accra Regional PRO, Mr. David Sam, and Korle Bu District Vice Chairman, Mr. Alhassan Haruna, on behalf of GRNMA’s National President, Madam Perpetual Ofori Ampofo. This generous support comes under the GRNMA Health Fund, a safety net designed to help nurses and midwives in times of medical emergencies.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Miss Ashida and her husband expressed their heartfelt appreciation. In an emotional note, she shared:
“Dear Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), words cannot fully express my gratitude for the incredible support you have shown me. Your kindness has eased a huge burden and, more importantly, given me renewed hope. Thank you for standing by me in this difficult time.”

On behalf of all nurses and midwives in the Sissala East Municipality, Municipal Chairman Hon. Bentor commended the GRNMA leadership for instituting such a life-saving initiative. He also seized the opportunity to call on employers to introduce or strengthen annual medical screenings for healthcare workers, as outlined in their conditions of service.

“As nurses, we dedicate our lives to caring for others, but we must also remember to care for ourselves. Let’s pay attention to what we eat, adopt healthier lifestyles, and prioritize regular check-ups,” he urged.

The GRNMA’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its members continues to make a profound impact, proving that in healthcare, no one stands alone.
