Tumu Ladies Shine as U-15 Girls Colts League Kicks Off in Upper West Region
The atmosphere at the Tumu sports stadium Astro-Turf was filled with excitement and anticipation on Saturday, 21st February 2026, as the U-15 Girls Colts League officially kicked off in the Upper West Region. The initiative, organized under the FIFA Women’s Football Development programme through the Ghana Football Association and the Upper West Regional Football Association, represents a major boost for grassroots girls’ football in the region.

The opening fixture between Falahia Ladies and Tumu Ladies did not disappoint. From the first whistle, both teams demonstrated confidence, discipline, and a clear desire to make a strong statement in the competition. Spectators witnessed a spirited contest marked by determination and emerging talent.
Tumu Ladies asserted themselves early in the game and were rewarded in the 14th minute when Beinbin Munaya broke through to score the opening goal. Her calm finish gave her side the advantage and energized the home supporters. Falahia Ladies, however, responded positively and leveled the score in the 20th minute through Kuunkun Shukura Bawa, who capitalized on an opportunity to bring her team back into contention.

The game remained competitive, but Tumu Ladies regained control in the 26th minute after winning a penalty. Captain Sidiki Hikma stepped up with composure and converted the spot kick confidently to restore her team’s lead. Her leadership and confidence were evident throughout the match.
Before halftime, Tumu Ladies extended their advantage when Beinbin Munaya grabbed her second goal in the 38th minute, giving her side a comfortable 3–1 lead going into the break. In the second half, Tumu Ladies maintained their dominance, controlling possession and limiting their opponents’ attacking threats. In the 47th minute, Sidiki Hikma added her second goal of the match to seal an emphatic 4–1 victory.
The match not only produced goals but also showcased promising talent. Dintie Fahima of Tumu Ladies was named the Most Promising Player after an impressive performance marked by energy, skill, and maturity on the ball.
The successful launch of the U-15 Girls Colts League in Tumu signals a strong commitment to developing young female footballers in the Upper West Region. With structured competition and continued support, the league is poised to nurture future stars and strengthen the foundation of women’s football in the area.
