DCE Gbene Fuseini Distances Assembly from GES Transfers, Rates MP Supkaru 15/10
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sissala West, Hon. Fuseini Gbene Abudu, has addressed recent concerns regarding the transfer of teachers and education directors, clarifying that the District Assembly has no role in the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) administrative decisions.
Speaking on Radford’s regular weekend programme, Trending Issues, Hon. Gbene Abudu emphatically stated that he does not work at the GES and that the transfers are strictly an internal matter for the educational service.
The DCE noted that the recent transfers were not the first time such action has been taken, reminding listeners of previous transfers of teachers and education directors in the district’s history. This historical context was provided to reassure the public that the movements are an administrative norm
During the interview, the DCE gave a highly positive assessment of the work done by the Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Hon. Mohammed Adam Supkaru, praising his ability to secure significant development projects for the area.
“On a scale of 1 to 10, I will rate Hon. Mohammed Adams Supkaru 15/10, and this is why. Out of 17 GETFund projects advertised in the Upper West region, projects numbered 1 to 14 are all projects coming to Sissala West. This is why my MP is the best,” the DCE declared, citing the MP’s success in bringing a majority of the regional GETFund projects to Sissala West. He further testified to the MP’s dedication, asserting that Hon. Supkaru is deeply passionate about his constituents’ development.
Hon. Gbene Abudu also provided an update on the district’s financial health, revealing a major leap in Internal Generated Fund (IGF) mobilization. The DCE announced that the district has raised over GH₵815,000 between January and September, setting an ambitious goal to reach GH₵1 million by the close of the year. He attributed this success to implementing “rigorous methods,” including an overhaul of the district’s revenue collector team.
“We have raised over GH₵815,000 as an IGF from January to September. We are aiming for GH₵1 million at the end of the year,” he stated.
He also recalled the challenging financial status he inherited upon assuming office:
“When I took over office as DCE for Sissala West, I only met debts, uncompleted projects, etc. The only positive thing I met was the assembly building.”
The DCE’s appearance on Radford FM served to clarify administrative roles, celebrate development successes, and provide transparency on the district’s financial efforts.
