Sissala West Assembly Holds First Ordinary Meeting; DCE Outlines Development Projects
The Sissala West District Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025, held the first ordinary meeting of the first session of the Sixth Assembly, with District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Abudu Fuseini Gbene, addressing members for the first time since his confirmation.
In his address, Hon. Gbene expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chiefs and assembly members for the confidence reposed in him. He also appealed to the general public to collaborate with security agencies in promoting peace and unity across the district. While commending the agencies for their professionalism, he urged them to step up night patrols to enhance security.

Highlighting infrastructure priorities, the DCE announced several projects to be undertaken under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF). These include:
- Construction of a CHPS compound and a 2-unit accommodation with ancillary facilities at Sangbaga.
- Construction and furnishing of a CHPS compound and a 4-unit accommodation with ancillary facilities at Kusali.
- Construction of a 2-unit KG block with an office, staff common room, stores, bathroom, and 2-unit KVIP at Jeffisi-Gowee and Buo.
- Siting, drilling, construction, and mechanization of boreholes at Kandia CHPS, Wiro CHPS, and the mechanization of Sorbelle CHPS borehole.
- Completion of nurses’ quarters at Gwollu District Hospital and rehabilitation of 10 boreholes.
- Rehabilitation and furnishing of the District Assembly Conference Hall.
Hon. Gbene reaffirmed his commitment to completing ongoing projects, stressing: “I will prefer completing a few projects than leaving many abandoned projects as a DCE.”
The meeting set the stage for renewed collaboration between the Assembly, traditional leaders, and development partners toward improving living standards in Sissala West.
