NDC Dares Kwabena Adu Boahen To Disclose Names Of Political Parties He Funded
The Deputy Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, has challenged the former boss of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, to name the specific opposition parties he claims to have spent over GH¢8 million on in 2024 to procure election collation logistics and equipment.
The former boss of the defunct NSB penned a detailed memo from his detention at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), addressing various allegations of misappropriation of state funds to the tune of GHC 49 million.
In his memo, he asserts that the said misappropriated funds were utilized for sanctioned national security operations.
In a memo addressed to the National Security Coordinator, the former spy chief accused the Attorney General of launching a malicious prosecution against him.According to him, out of the GHC 49 million, GHC 1.5 million was used to purchase vehicles for the then President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, thereby highlighting the need for the logistical demand of the incoming government.
However, speaking to JoyNews on Friday, May 9, 2025, Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer strongly dismissed the allegations, adding that, “On authority, I’m telling you the NDC has nothing to do with what came out of that story.”
He added, “Those people they’re referring to supported them during their recent demonstration. He knows his partners—that’s who he was referring to. And I’m sure everybody has seen that. My opponent would give me resources to defeat him in an election? Does that make sense?”
Dr Tanko further asserted that other political parties in opposition had not shown any real interest in unseating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and were often aligned with them.
“When we were in IPAC, anytime the NDC opposed the EC and NPP, those parties sided with the EC and NPP. The NDC has nothing to do with this. We fought hard, used our own resources, and dealt a heavy blow to the NPP.”
