Maiden Karma Concert Lights Up Tumu with Record-Breaking New Year Crowd

The maiden Karma Concert etched its name into the history books on New Year’s Day at the Tumu Sports Stadium Astro Turf, attracting an unprecedented crowd of music lovers from across the Upper West Region. Tickets for the event were completely sold out well before the gates opened, with over 1,000 tickets sold in advance, making it the highest-attended single-artist-led music concert ever recorded in the Sissala enclave.

The concert was headlined by Tamale-based superstar Fancy Gadam (1 Don) alongside Tumu’s celebrated music icon, Mental Diz. The event drew several high-profile personalities, including representatives of the Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Hon. Mohammed Issah Bataglia, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Adamu Yakubu, led by NDC Constituency Youth Organizer Haruna Bankuoru. Also present were key figures from the media and corporate sectors, such as KHK Visuals CEO Mr. Harun Kuri Kaayi, Radford FM Manager Mohammed Salia, Sissala Radio Manager Ibrahim Wasor, and the VRA/NEDCo Area Manager, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

The night featured over six hours of electrifying performances, with Mental Diz delivering a powerful 30-minute set and Fancy Gadam thrilling the crowd for more than 40 minutes with back-to-back hits. Fancy Gadam later brought Mental Diz back on stage, encouraging fans to continue supporting homegrown talent.

The concert also served as a launchpad for emerging acts including Aisha Ghana, Apaco Gh, Amani Gh, Best Target, Nibaradun Maneja, Laxx Dis Bom, Superboi Santana, Alka GH, Nadia Ironbwoy, among others. Organizers, led by Iconic Sissala, later expressed gratitude to patrons, sponsors, media partners, Radford 107.5 FM, Sissala Radio, and Gwollu FM, and the blogging community. The success of the Karma Concert is expected to open the door for more large-scale entertainment events in the Sissala area, strengthening the local creative economy and elevating Northern Ghanaian talent.
