Hon. To-Ang Nangpello Ninfaapigzie Peter Confirmed as Jirapa MCE in Second Round of Voting
After a tense initial round, the Jirapa Municipal Assembly has officially confirmed Hon. To-Ang Nangpello Ninfaapigzie Peter as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jirapa.
In the second round of voting, supervised by the Electoral Commission, Hon. Nangpello secured a resounding 42 ‘Yes’ votes against 10 ‘No’ votes, pushing him over the required two-thirds majority. This result gives him a confirmation percentage of 80.77%, bringing an end to the suspense surrounding his nomination.
The vote marks a major turnaround from the first round, where the nominee fell short with 34 votes in favour—two shy of the threshold needed. With the second vote now cast and counted, Hon. Nangpello’s confirmation stands as official and final.
The announcement was met with visible relief and celebration from supporters present at the assembly hall. Many described the confirmation as a positive step for the municipality and expressed hope that it would pave the way for a renewed focus on local development and good governance.
With this confirmation, Hon. To-Ang Nangpello Ninfaapigzie Peter is now set to formally assume his role and lead the Jirapa Municipal Assembly.
