Sissala East Municipal Assembly Orients 8 Facilitators for SOCO Project Implementation

The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has officially engaged and oriented eight Community Facilitators to lead the implementation of the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) projects. The ceremony, held at the Municipal Assembly, saw the formal presentation of appointment letters and tools of trade to the newly recruited personnel.

Addressing the facilitators, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Adamu Yakubu, emphasized that their roles are pivotal to the success of the SOCO intervention. He was joined by the Deputy Coordinating Director, Madam Hilda, the Municipal Planners, Mr. Dramani and Mr. Eshaw, as well as the Municipal Engineer and officials from the Social Welfare Department. He stressed that, their appointment was facilitated by the member of parliament for Sisaala East Hon. Issah Mohammed Bataglia and that they should not disappoint him. Regarding their core duties, the MCE explained that the facilitators are primarily responsible for community mobilization and sensitization. They are tasked with serving as the vital link between the Assembly and the clusters, ensuring that residents are fully informed and engaged in the various developmental sub-projects under the SOCO initiative.

Furthermore, the facilitators are required to provide regular and accurate progress reports to the Assembly. To facilitate this, they have been assigned specific clusters of eight communities each. Their work involves continuous monitoring of project sites and ensuring that the needs and concerns of the local population are effectively communicated to the technical staff at the Municipal level. “We are going to evaluate your work to see whether the contract will be renewed or not,” the MCE stated.

To ensure effective discharge of these duties, the Assembly has provided each facilitator with a motorbike. The MCE stressed the importance of maintenance, noting that a monthly allowance Gh¢1,200 which is taxable has been factored into their remuneration package, Gh¢150 for fuel, Gh¢50 for data and Gh¢100 for servicing. He warned that the durability of the motorbikes is essential for reaching the remote parts of their assigned clusters. “We don’t joke with the serving of these motorbikes. They must last long to serve their intended purpose in the communities” He stated.

The eight facilitators include Mahama Luri Tombaka, Babugu Sulemani, Borsu Suglo, Batiah Al-Hakim Santi, Ayambilla M. Hardi, Lanyu Yussif, Alhassan Diini, and Sumaila Zenti. On behalf of the group, Al-Hakim Santi thanked the MCE and the Assembly for the opportunity, pledging their commitment to working diligently to meet the project’s objectives of fostering social cohesion and development within the municipality.
