Mahama appoints Anthony Sarpong as Ag. Commissioner-General of GRA

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Anthony Sarpong, a Senior Partner at auditing firm KPMG, as the Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The announcement, made on January 21, 2025, clarified that Mr. Sarpong’s appointment is contingent upon receiving the constitutionally required advice from the Governing Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Effective immediately, President Mahama congratulated Mr. Sarpong on his new role and requested that he formally confirm his acceptance within 14 days.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate you formally on your appointment. Kindly indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this appointment, within fourteen (14) days of receipt of this letter. Please accept the President’s best wishes.”

It is expected that Mr. Sarpong will embark on rigorous revenue mobilization efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ghana Revenue Authority in its mission to drive the nation’s fiscal growth.
