Sissala East Ready for Kick-Off as U-15 Girls Colts League Begins

There is a new sense of excitement building around the Tumu Astro Turf as Sissala East prepares to host matches in the newly launched Upper West Regional U-15 Girls Colts League.

The league, officially introduced by the Upper West Regional Football Association, is part of a FIFA-supported initiative aimed at giving young girls structured opportunities to compete, develop, and grow through football. The launch ceremony brought together school authorities, coaches, and football administrators, all united in a shared commitment to advancing the women’s game at the grassroots level.

In Sissala East, four teams will represent the municipality in this maiden campaign, and they are, Falahia Ladies, Tumu Ladies, T.I. Ladies, and Chiewia Ladies. All fixtures will be played at the Tumu Astro Turf, turning the venue into the heartbeat of girls’ football development in the area over the coming weeks.

The competition begins on 21st February 2026, with Falahia Ladies taking on Tumu Ladies, while T.I. Ladies face Chiewia Ladies.

The first round will continue through late February and into March, before the return fixtures commence from late March through April.

Beyond the results and league standings, the bigger picture remains clear, this competition is about building confidence, discipline, teamwork, and technical growth among young female players. For many of the girls involved, it is their first experience of organized league football, a moment that could shape their sporting future.

Stakeholders have expressed optimism that the initiative will help identify hidden talents within schools and communities, while also strengthening the foundation for women’s football in Sissala East.

As the whistle gets ready to blow for the opening matches, anticipation continues to grow. For the young girls stepping onto the pitch, this is more than just a league, it is the beginning of a journey.
