Minister of Education and Deputy Minister Airlifted to Accra from Tumu
A military helicopter, GHF 694, departed the Kanton Senior High School park in Tumu with victims of Thursday morning’s accident involving the Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation.
The Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Bening Adamu Yakubu, stated that the aircraft landed in Tumu at approximately 1640 GMT and took off at 1715 GMT.
According to him, the Minister of Education, the Deputy Minister, and other victims were flown to Wa, the Upper West Regional capital, where they are expected to be airlifted onward to Accra for further medical treatment.
The two ministers were involved in an accident in a town near Tumu, where they were scheduled to participate as guests in the 40th anniversary celebration and graduation ceremony of the Tumu College of Education.
Earlier, the Medical Doctor at the Tumu Government Hospital had indicated to Radford FM News that all the victims were in stable condition prior to the air evacuation.
