Minister of Education and Deputy Communications Minister Involved in Road Accident Near TumuThe Minister of Education, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, and the Deputy Minister for Communication and Digital Innovation, Mr. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, have been involved in a road accident while traveling to Tumu for the 40th anniversary celebration of the Tumu College of Education.
They have since been taken to the Tumu Government Hospital, where Dr. Joshua Amikiya Ayariga has confirmed that they are all in stable condition and receiving medical attention.
The accident is said to have occurred around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning between Banu and Kunchokor on the Tumu–Navrongo highway.
The Sissala East MCE, Mr. Bening Adamu Yakubu, told Radford FM that he received a distressed call around 11:00 a.m. informing him that an accident had occurred between Pina and Kunchokor, involving two government officials.
According to reports, the accident was caused by a motorist who crossed the convoy. In the process, the driver reportedly lost control due to a clog of dust, resulting in the crash.
Mr. Alhassan Zakaria, the driver who sustained a fracture in the hand, is also responding to treatment.
The stretch of road where the accident occurred is currently under construction by Mawums Construction Ltd, following the sod-cutting ceremony performed by the President under the Big Push Project.
The Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Hon. Mohammed Issah Bataglia, was at the hospital to assist the victims.
