Five Major Development Project Sites Handed Over in the Sissala East Municipality

The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has launched a major infrastructural drive, formally handing over five critical educational and health projects to contractors during a series of sod-cutting ceremonies this week. The projects, funded entirely by the Municipal Assembly Common Fund, aim to significantly boost infrastructure across the municipality.

The high-profile team, led by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Adamu Yakubu and Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Mohammed Issah Bataglia, was accompanied by Assembly staff and members of the NDC party as they toured five communities. The projects include the completion of an abandoned 3-unit classroom block in Sinboru and an abandoned CHPS compound in Kuruboi. Additionally, three new constructions were commissioned: a CHPS compound in Nabulo Fachoboi and 3-unit classroom blocks in Kulfuo Friwa and Bakwala.

During his address, MCE Hon. Adamu Yakubu provided detailed insight into the specifications of the contracts. He confirmed that all classroom blocks would be comprehensive, featuring a storeroom, KVIP toilet facilities, a urinary, an office, and provision for the extension of electricity. The CHPS compounds will be equipped with essential facilities, including patient wards, delivery rooms, nurses’ quarters, and washrooms.
Crucially, the MCE emphatically assured the gathered community members that project financing was not a concern, stating that the required funds were “lying on their account.” He stressed the importance of timely delivery, tasking every contractor with completing their project within a six-month window and calling on the communities to offer their full support to ensure swift execution.

Member of Parliament, Honourable Bataglia, addressed the ongoing efforts aimed at fostering development for his constituents, assuring residents that the current momentum indicates that “good news and more projects” are anticipated for the municipality. In Nabulo Fachoboi, the MP further stated that plans are well underway to convert the Nabulo health center into a polyclinic. He promised that, in the near future, there will be the construction of a laboratory at the Nabulo health center.

The ceremonies were marked by warm receptions in all visited communities, which often led to appeals from local leaders. The women of Nabulo Fachoboi showed their appreciation for the new CHPS compound with a spontaneous display of traditional dancing skills. In Kulfuo, Chief Kuoro Micheal seized the opportunity to appeal for more teachers and a dedicated teachers’ quarters. The Unit Committee Chairman in Sinboru called on the MP to address the community’s deplorable road condition, while a community member in Kuruboi appealed to both the MCE and MP for intervention to help local farmers secure better prices for their crops.

The launch of these five projects marks a significant step by the Sissala East Municipal Assembly towards improving social services for its residents.
