59 CPAs Handed Over to Sissala East Municipal Police to Boost Security
The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has officially handed over 59 Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) to the Sissala East Municipal Police Command to strengthen security across the municipality.
The ceremony, held on September 25, 2025, at the forecourt of the Tumu Divisional Police Station, was led by the YEA Director, who formally presented the recruits to the Municipal Police Commander, ASP Johnson Adusei-Poku.
Welcoming the CPAs, ASP Johnson Adusei-Poku assured them of additional support, including extra uniforms and boots, to enable them to perform their duties effectively. He cautioned the recruits against using their uniforms to intimidate community members, stressing that disciplinary action would be taken against anyone who abused the position. He noted that with 64 communities in the municipality and limited police numbers, the arrival of the CPAs was a timely intervention to improve security.
The YEA representative for Sisaala East, Mr. Batong Alhassan Hor, recounted the agency’s history, explaining that it was launched in 2006 to create decent employment opportunities and reduce poverty. He reminded the CPAs that their discipline and dedication would determine their future, adding that the President had promised to recruit well-behaved CPAs into the Ghana Police Service when opportunities arise.

Representing the Member of Parliament, Mr. Haruna Bankuoro, NDC’s Sisaala East Youth Organizer conveyed the MP’s congratulatory message to Miss Sawudatu Tounia, who was recognized as the Best Regional CPA during their training at Pwalugu in the Upper East Region.
The Presiding Member also addressed the gathering, warning against the dangers of drug abuse and the misuse of social media, which he described as major challenges facing the youth.

ASP Poku further appealed for logistical support such as motorbikes, fuel, and other resources to help the police and CPAs effectively discharge their duties across the municipality.
The event marked a significant step in addressing manpower shortages within the Sissala East security setup while offering young people an opportunity to contribute to national development.
