NPP Communicator Urges MCE, MP to Put Road Equipment to Use in Sissala East
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team in the Sissala East Constituency, Mr. Kanton Luriwie Issah, has called on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Member of Parliament (MP) to take immediate steps to deploy the road maintenance equipment acquired under the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP).
Speaking during the Lawasijan current affairs program on Sissala Radio on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Mr. Issah expressed frustration over the worsening state of roads in the municipality, which he said is becoming even more deplorable with the ongoing rainy season.
He observed that the poor road conditions are severely disrupting transportation, especially for farmers, traders, and residents who depend on these roads for daily movement and the transportation of foodstuffs and agricultural inputs.
“What’s the point in having these machines if they are not being used? The DRIP equipment has been parked for months. Meanwhile, our roads are deteriorating daily. The people of Sissala East deserve better,” Mr. Issah stated.
He further emphasized that the equipment, procured under the previous administration specifically to address rural road challenges, should not be left to rust. According to him, the inactivity undermines the very objective for which the machines were brought to the municipality.
Mr. Issah therefore called on both the MCE and the MP to outline a clear and transparent action plan that will ensure the machines are immediately deployed to improve roads across the district.
He also encouraged stronger collaboration between the Sissala East Municipal Assembly and central government agencies to mobilize the needed support and political will to execute the road improvement agenda.
