Appiah-Kubi Baidoo Bows Out of NPP After Years of Loyalty and Disappointment

After more than two decades of service to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), prominent member and three-time parliamentary candidate, Appiah-Kubi Baidoo, has officially tendered his resignation from the party.

In a letter dated April 16, 2025, addressed to the Constituency Chairman of the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency, Mr. Baidoo expressed his deep frustration over what he described as persistent maltreatment by the party. According to him, both he and his immediate family had endured unfair treatment over the years, despite his sacrifices and commitment to the party’s growth and mission.

“All efforts, including written appeals to get the attention of the National Executives, have yielded no results,” he noted in the letter.”

Mr. Baidoo, who once served as District Chief Executive and stood three times as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, took a moment to thank the party for those opportunities. However, his message was tinged with disappointment, as he also offered an unreserved apology to his loyal supporters and sympathizers who had stood by him throughout his political journey.

“I unreservedly apologise to the thousands of supporters and sympathisers who have been with me through thick and thin over the last two decades,” he wrote.

Copies of the resignation letter were also sent to the Regional Chairman of the NPP in the Western North Region, the party’s General Secretary in Accra, and the media.

Though Mr. Baidoo didn’t disclose his next move, he concluded the letter on a reflective note, expressing gratitude once again for the platform the party gave him and extending his best wishes to the NPP in its future endeavors.

His exit from the party is likely to leave a gap in the political fabric of Sefwi Akontombra, where he has long been a respected figure among both constituents and party faithful. Below is the letter
