Gandawii Stars Edge Kowie Eva Stars 2–1 in Season Opener Under New Coach Philemon

Gandawii Stars FC kicked off their 2025/26 Upper West Regional Division II League campaign in impressive fashion, defeating Kowie Eva Stars 2–1 at the Tumu Astro Turf on Monday afternoon.

The thrilling encounter, which kicked off at 3 p.m., marked Coach Philemon, popularly known as Mourinho’s, first game in charge of Gandawii Stars, and he could not have asked for a better start.

Gandawii Stars took early control of the match, finding the back of the net twice in the first half through well-worked team play that kept the Kowie Eva defense on the back foot. Despite the dominant start, Kowie Eva Stars regrouped after the break and managed to pull one back in the 50th minute, setting up a tense second half.

However, Gandawii Stars maintained their composure and tactical discipline to secure all three points in what was a competitive and entertaining clash.

With this victory, Coach Philemon’s men have announced their intentions early in the Zone 3 competition, signaling that Gandawii Stars FC could be a force to reckon with this season.
