Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department, has emerged winner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in Tamale Central.
He polled 840 votes in the election, which was organised to find a replacement for the late MP, Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, who died in a helicopter crash with seven others.
The primaries, held at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, attracted 12 aspirants, including three women.
Prof. Seidu’s overwhelming victory was confirmed after Electoral Commission officials declared the results, with his competitors conceding and congratulating him.
