Roads Minister unveils Tamale outer ring road project to boost northern development

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza has announced that President John Dramani Mahama is considering an ambitious infrastructure initiative dubbed the Tamale Outer Ring Road Project, designed to boost economic activity and improve vehicular movement in and around Tamale.

Speaking at the Gbewaa Palace during a courtesy call on the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, Hon. Agbodza stated that the project is in line with the President’s broader vision of building durable and transformative road infrastructure across the country.

The Minister noted that he and his team of engineers are currently undertaking an inspection tour to gather firsthand information on key selected projects, which will help inform strategic decisions to enhance the nation’s road network.

In his remarks, Yaa Naa commended the government’s “Big Push” Initiative, describing it as a major catalyst for national transformation. He urged the Minister to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality road infrastructure throughout the country.

As part of his visit, Hon. Agbodza inspected the ongoing construction of the new Gbewaa Palace, where he made a personal donation of 500 bags of cement toward the project.

He also inspected the progress of work on several other key infrastructure projects, including:

  • The Daka Bridge at Yendi
  • The Tamale–Yendi–Tatale road
  • The construction of a 60-meter span Bailey bridge at Wapuli on the Saboba
