John Gbene Iddrisu Dimah is not just a name. He is a force of transformation, blending leadership, agriculture, and public service to uplift lives and drive meaningful change.
Born on July 7, 1980, in Kusali, John’s early years were shaped by a strong sense of duty to his people. His academic journey took him through the University College of Management Studies, where he earned a Diploma in Marketing. Not stopping there, he pursued further studies at the African College of Management Studies, obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. His thirst for knowledge and desire to make a broader impact led him to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he earned a Master of Science in Public Affairs.
John’s professional journey is a testament to his deep-rooted passion for service. After completing his national service with the Nadowli Mutual Health Insurance Scheme in 2007/2008, he joined SAVE-Ghana in 2008 as a field officer. His role was pivotal in mobilizing and sensitizing communities, ensuring they were well-equipped to pursue collective development initiatives. In 2010, he transitioned into the Non-Formal Education Division as a Programme Officer, where he played a critical role in managing logistics and educational materials in the Sissala West District.
His leadership qualities and relentless drive for development saw him rise to the position of Assembly Member for the Kusali Electoral Area. In this capacity, John proved to be a champion for his people, securing resources, advocating for infrastructural projects, and creating employment opportunities. His ability to connect with the grassroots and address pressing issues made him a beacon of hope for many.
Beyond politics and governance, John is a trailblazer in agriculture. His expertise in commercial farming, particularly in maize production, has positioned him as a leading figure in Ghana’s agricultural sector. With over 1,000 acres of farmland, he produces an impressive 4,000 tonnes of maize annually. His cashew and shea plantations further highlight his commitment to sustainable farming and economic empowerment. By employing modern techniques such as improved seed varieties, mechanization, and efficient land preparation, he has set a high standard for agricultural excellence.
John’s outstanding contributions have not gone unnoticed. He has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious 2019 National Best Quality Maize Farmer Award in Ho, the Regional Best Farmer Award for the Upper West Region, and the District Best Crop Farmer Award for Sissala West. His influence extends beyond farming; as a respected member of the Council of Elders for the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana, he continues to shape policies and drive innovations that benefit farmers across the country.
At his core, John Gbene Iddrisu Dimah is a man of integrity, innovation, and service. His journey—from a young boy in Kusali to a celebrated leader in agriculture and governance—reflects his unwavering dedication to progress. As he steps forward to represent the Upper West Region on the national stage, there is no doubt that his wealth of experience, deep understanding of community needs, and visionary leadership will bring lasting change.
His story is not just one of success but of resilience, purpose, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
