The race for the Upper West Regional seat on the Council of State is gaining momentum, and one name stands out—John Gbene Iddrisu Dimah. With a strong background in public service, community development, and agribusiness, he is stepping forward with a clear vision to champion the needs of the region at the national level.

A Leader Rooted in Service and Development

Born and raised in Kusali, a town in the Sissala West District, John Dimah has spent years working tirelessly for the betterment of his people. His journey in leadership began when he was elected as an Assembly Member for the Kusali Electoral Area. In this role, he became a strong advocate for development, securing resources, lobbying for key projects, and creating job opportunities for his constituents.

But his impact didn’t stop at local governance. John Dimah also played a significant role in the National Health Insurance Scheme, where he worked to ensure more people in rural communities had access to healthcare. Later, he joined SAVE-Ghana, where he helped manage logistics and materials for education and development programs in the Sissala West District.

An Agricultural Pioneer Driving Economic Growth

Aside from his contributions to governance and public service, John Dimah is a well-respected figure in Ghana’s agricultural sector. As a successful commercial farmer, he specializes in large-scale maize production and has developed thriving cashew and shea plantations. His innovative approach to farming—combining modern agricultural techniques with improved seed varieties and mechanized farming—has made him one of the most productive farmers in the region.

His hard work has not gone unnoticed. In 2019, he was honored as the National Best Quality Maize Farmer and the District Best Farmer for Sissala West. Through his agribusiness initiatives, he has created jobs, empowered local farmers, and contributed to food security in Ghana.

A Bold Vision for the Upper West Region

John Dimah’s campaign for the Council of State is built on five core priorities:

  1. Advocating for Inclusive Appointments – Ensuring fair and merit-based representation of the Upper West Region in national decision-making processes.
  2. Providing Proactive Advisory Support – Bringing well-researched and practical advice to the Council of State to benefit the region.
  3. Championing Regional Interests on a National Scale – Pushing for policies that directly impact infrastructure, education, employment, and development in the Upper West Region.
  4. Promoting Transparency and Accountability – Keeping the people informed about key decisions at the national level that affect their daily lives.
  5. Elevating the Role of Assembly Members – Advocating for better recognition, support, and resources for Assembly Members to improve governance at the grassroots level.
