Bandei to benefit from Teachers Quarters, KG Block as Sisaala East Breaks Ground for Muiti-Million DACF Projects

The residents of Bandei in the Sissala East Municipality of the Upper West Region are set to benefit from two major infrastructure projects following a sod-cutting ceremony to construct a four-unit teachers’ quarters and a two-unit Kindergarten (KG) block. The twin projects formed part of a multi-community sod-cutting tour conducted by municipal leadership to hand over several key developmental projects across the constituency.

The project inspection and sod-cutting team was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Adamu Yakubu, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala East, Hon. Mohammed Issah Bataglia. The delegation included the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency chairman Razak Mahama Namoro, party executives, heads of decentralised departments, and representatives from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ghana Health Service (GHS). All the projects are fully funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and carry a strict six-month completion deadline.

The tour commenced at Kong Bololo, where ground was broken for a 3-unit classroom block. Addressing the gathering, the MCE, Hon. Adamu Yakubu, assured the contractor and community that project funds were already available in the assembly’s bank account, emphasizing that cash flow would not impede execution.

The MP, Hon. Mohammed Issah Bataglia, underscored the direct link between political support and community development. Highlighting his electoral performance, winning 103 out of 106 polling stations, he noted that such overwhelming public trust places a strong responsibility on him to deliver tangible development.

The delegation then proceeded to Bandei, where sod was cut for the teachers’ quarters and the KG block, aimed at improving teacher retention and early childhood education in the community. At Vamboi, ground was broken for a modern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound featuring an Out-Patient Department (OPD), staff accommodation, and modern sanitary facilities. The contractor was explicitly tasked to extend electricity to the facility as part of the contract.

At Challu, the team handed over an abandoned community center to a contractor for completion as part of the presidential directive to finish legacy projects inherited from previous administrations. Works will include roofing, plastering, painting, and fitting administrative offices and washrooms since the structure is already in place. In response, the local leadership appealed for a future extension of the center and support to complete their self-help clinic maternity ward.

In Tafiasi, sod was cut for a new two-unit KG block to replace an old, dilapidated structure currently housing kindergarten pupils. The tour concluded in Tumu, the municipal capital, with a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a modern municipal slaughterhouse. The Chief Butcher of Tumu appealed to the assembly to consider perimeter fencing around the site once work is complete.

All contractors handed site documents were instructed to extend electricity to their respective project locations and meet the mandatory six-month delivery schedule. Representatives from the GES and GHS commended the assembly for prioritizing education and primary healthcare infrastructure across rural electoral areas.
