“Timely and Impactful”: Sissala West MP Hailed for Unprecedented Support for 950 JHS Graduates

Gwollu, Sissala West District — The Member of Parliament for Sissala West Constituency and Deputy Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Technology, Hon. Mohammed Adam Sukparu, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to education by providing comprehensive support packages to all 950 Junior High School (JHS) graduates across his constituency.
The official presentation ceremony, held today in Gwollu, the district capital, saw the distribution of essential educational materials and provisions aimed at easing the financial burden on students transitioning into senior high school or technical institutions. Each JHS graduate received a package consisting of a student mattress, a metal trunk, a bucket, and eight exercise books. These items are considered crucial provisions for students preparing for further education, many of whom face significant financial hardship.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Fuseini Abudu Gbene, who represented the MP at the ceremony, delivered a speech highlighting the various ways Hon. Sukparu has supported education in the district. The DCE specifically mentioned the MP’s significant intervention in higher education, where he covered the full first-year fees for over 70 students pursuing the Sissala program at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). Furthermore, the MP was acknowledged for funding the feeding of JHS students throughout their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) period.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sumaila Bukari, the Deputy Director of Education in charge of Finance and Administration, represented the District Director of Education. Mr. Sumaila praised the timely and impactful nature of the intervention. After receiving the items and thanking the MP and the DCE, he stated that the MP had done his part, and it was now left to the students to make good use of the materials to aid them in their studies.

The gratitude from the recipients was palpable. Bangniberu Gloria from Felmua T.I. Ahmmadia Basic School, who is heading to Lawra Senior High School to read general science, speaking on behalf of her fellow students, expressed heartfelt thanks to both the MP and the DCE for their supportive actions. She underscored the necessity of the items, stating, “These items are really important to most of us.” She concluded her remarks by offering blessings, asking for success to crown the efforts of the leaders as they continue to serve the people of Sissala West.

Parents of the beneficiaries also spoke about the immediate financial relief the donation provided. Mr. Kanjalu Basugu, a father from Kuplima, expressed his profound happiness and relief:
“I am very happy as I talk to you now; if I say I am not happy, then I will be deceiving myself. All these items I received today have reduced my burden as a parent. I would have been buying all these items, but I received them for free. I will pray the government rules well for us to see the benefits. I am just thanking the MP for this gesture.”

His sentiments were echoed by Salima, a parent from Gwollu town, who highlighted how the donation helped overcome the financial barrier:
“These items we received will go a long way to help us. Some of us were not having the money to buy the items, and the MP has bought them for us. We are just thanking him, may Allah open his work. We know the MP has come to help those of us that cannot afford. If anybody could, I cannot. When I heard this news some days ago, I was very excited. It is God’s blessing we leave with him.”

Hon. Mohammed Adam Sukparu is currently serving his second term as the Member of Parliament, a tenure marked by a consistent focus on human capital development and educational infrastructure. The current donation serves as another firm commitment to securing a brighter academic future for the youth of the constituency.
The ceremony took place at the Sissala West District Assembly complex in Gwollu.
