Take EOCO, FBI probes seriously – Sosu tells Shatta Wale
The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis Xavier Sosu, has urged Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and his legal team to treat ongoing investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with the utmost seriousness.
His comment follows days of legal proceedings tied to allegations concerning the acquisition of a Lamborghini Urus—specifically, alleged failure to prove legitimate ownership of the vehicle.
An official statement issued by EOCO on Thursday, August 21, 2025, noted that Shatta Wale could not furnish credible proof of ownership or lawful acquisition of the vehicle.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Thursday, August 21, Mr. Sosu said that while he personally admires the artiste, legal matters of this nature cannot be taken lightly.
He explained that because the allegations reportedly involve the FBI and Ghana’s bilateral agreements on crime, it would be a mistake to trivialise them. He stressed that undermining legal processes not only endangers the accused but also sends the wrong message to young fans who look up to them.
“Citizens must also take these things seriously. Since the issue came up, I have seen a few social media comments by the accused person. Very, very respectfully, I am a Shatta fan, but it is important that when these matters come up, you treat them as a serious matter. These are legal matters. If you take it for granted, it can easily land you in prison. I would advise Shatta Wale and his legal team that they should treat these as serious matters.
“The accusations are coming from the FBI, and we have a bilateral agreement, so when there is a complaint, you expect the state to investigate it. I will beg that we should live within the limit of the law so that we can stay at peace,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cephas Boyuo, counsel for Shatta Wale, confirmed to Citi News that his client has been released from EOCO custody after meeting the revised bail conditions.
According to the lawyer, the bail amount, initially pegged at GH¢10 million with two sureties, was reduced to GH¢5 million with the same number of sureties. Shatta Wale is also required to report to EOCO three times a week as part of his bail obligations.
